Objectives

Individual Learning Session: Falls Prevention

At the end of this session you will:

  • be able to identify the risk factors of falling
  • understand the consequences of falling
  • be able to identify preventative measures, including adaptations in the home
  • know what action to take if a fall occurs
  • know where to find help and further information
The learning objectives in this session link in to the following units:
  • Level 2 Certificate in Assisting And Moving Individuals For A Social Care Setting:
    • Mandatory units:
      • MH 204 - Select and use appropriate techniques and equipment when dealing with falls
    • Optional units:
      • HSC 2002 - Provide support for mobility


  • Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care:
    • Optional Units:
      • SS OP 2.4 - Contribute to supporting individuals in the use of assistive technology


  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities:
    • Optional Units – Group B:
      • SS OP 2.4 - Contribute to supporting individuals in the use of assistive technology


  • Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma (including Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability Pathways):
    • Group C - Optional Competence Units:
      • HSC 2002 - Provide support for mobility
      • PD OP 2.2 - Work with other professionals and agencies to support individuals with a physical disability
      • SS OP 2.4 - Contribute to supporting individuals in the use of assistive technology
