Objectives

Individual Learning Session: Community Care and the Law in Scotland - an introduction

At the end of this session you will:

  • have an overview of relevant legislation and policy relevant to adult social care in Scotland
  • have insight into how the law evolves over time
  • understand that the law gives people rights and there are specific duties and responsibilities required of those putting the law into practice in relation to this
  • understand that working within the relevant current law emphasises an outcomes-focused, self-directed and personalised approach to supporting adults
  • be able to explain, in accordance with the relevant legislation, the importance of working in partnership with adults and their carers recognising the expertise they gain through experience
